LEGION/SICK TERROR LP - AND MAN WILL BE THE HUNTED
Sick Terror, from Brazil, play scathing hardcore punk
at a fast speed—blazing guitar and bass, scampering drums and agitated
vocals, along with politically-oriented lyrics that paint a dark picture of
life in their country—corrupt politicians, oppressive religion and police.
Half a dozen of the songs are covers, from such bands as Olho Seco, Inocentes
and No For An Answer. Legion dish out more thrash metal/hardcore cross-pollination
nastiness. Not quite as well as on their album “Kiss The Goat,”
but still pretty vicious and heavy-sounding. “Tragic Serenades”
includes more Celtic Frost puns than you can shake a stick at. The cover art,
with skeleton-headed vixens, will piss off the prudes.
-Suburban Voice
It's so nice when you KNOW you are going to love a
record before you even take it out of the sleeve. Brasil's SICK TERROR are
phenomenal brutal thrash. These songs pick up right where last year's CD left
off, and on their side we get covers of songs by A_AO DIRETA, NO FOR AN ANSWER
and NUCLEAR DEATH, along with originals (14 songs in all), that do not let
up for even a second. I am so incredibly excited about seeing this band in
Brazil this spring. Canada's LEGION666 are still metal, a fact that brings
a smile to my face as the open E intro and the completely blown out recording
start off their side of the record. Slow to fast and back again, total down
tuned metal hardcore. Awesome stuff once again. And should I mention that
there are naked skeleton girls on the cover? Yes, I should.
-MaximumRockNRoll
SICK TERROR from Brazil get things rolling with a get-up-and-go
style early American sounding hardcore not unlike OUT COLD. Their lyrics are
a jarring look at the underbelly of third world living with songs like "Your
Funeral will be our party" and "Still Slaves". They throw in
lots of covers paying homage to OLHO SECO, PERSONAL CHOICE, and NO FOR AN
ANSWER to name a few. Upon listening to the whole side the mix of speed, sometimes
at blinding speeds, left me with a VITAMIN X feel. It's incredible. LEGION666
drop some more of their brooding style metal-core. The overall sound is a
little flatter and thinner sounding than "Kiss the Goat". Songs
have better edits and mix together in a more unified fashion. And they deliver
a great version of POISON IDEA's "A.A.". Lots of awesome things
to this unlikely pairing.
-Equalizing X Distort
I've been in that fast punk rock mode lately and was
sent a copy of this awesome split. SICK TERROR hail from Brazil and unleash
a fury of fast and heavy punk numbers that make you pretend that you are doing
stage dives using your couch. They provide with plenty, with fourteen songs
that makes me apeshit for how good it sounds to my angry head. LEGION666 hail
from Canada and give you a reason to head-bang. Double bass drums, intricate
guitar riffing that sounds dark, tuned low, and vocals that sound so evil
that the singer's crying from singing in such a low tone. Fans of death metal
should check this out. Its mixture of old school speed metal, death metal,
and crust makes this a nice, sinister representation of your dark side. Odd
combination for these two bands but it can introduce a new fan to each other's
scene. Don't be cheap, send out the $10 to get this!
-Razorcake
SICK TERROR (Brazil) spew forth intense thrash/hardcore
punk while LEGION666 from Canada deal out Skuld-style crustcore. This works
out to be a great pairup with a layout that can't help but be compared to
early Pusmort releases... essential.
-Hardcore Holocaust
Ripping hardcore from Brazil's SICK TERROR, lots of
snap and bite...sound American. Canada's LEGION are some crafty evil-doers,
playing metalled-out hardcore with Scandi influences. This came out awhile
ago but there must be copies left. Worth every satanic penny.
-Short Fast + Loud
Sick Terror has set up quite some name by now, with
their fast raw thrashy Brazilian Hardcore. Of course, since they are a great
band and nice people. After two EPs (Peste Catolica and Aborto Legal) this
split LP shows up. It's not all new recordings. In fact it has all the songs
on the Peste Catolica EP, plus 7 more. 14 Songs in total, from which 6 covers
from Olho Seco, Lobotomia, Personal Choice, Acao Direta, Inocentes and No
for an Answer. You better can look for this LP, than the Peste Catolica 7",
since it has more songs, you don't have to flip over for the second part,
and you get six songs in a row by Legion 666 on the B-side. Legion 666 is
a Crust-metal band from Canada. Crust-metal? Yeah, a mix between Crust and
Black/Death-Metal. Fast Crust parts are altered with slower metal-riffs, and
grunting voice and also lyrics and artwork inspired by Black/Death-Metal bands.
I did read in an interview they cover bands like Crude SS, Bathory and Sodom.
On this release they cover A.A. by Poison Idea. The sound is not at its best
and the voice is not at its best, but they know how to play good crusty riffs
and overall it's a good listen. A good release in all.

Schizophrenic Records bezeichnen diese Split LP als
„God hating hardcore from Canada and Brasil“. Ich auch!! Ende
LEGION
666 konnten mich bereits mit ihrer ’99er „Hell at last“
Diese sechs Stücke, darunter auch „A.A.“
collectors are pretentious assholes“ Meister-LP) gehen zum Glück
Wahnsinn, selbst „A.A.“ klingt wie lupenreiner Blackthrash und
die „... and man will be the hunted“ Split LP auch wegen SICK
TERROR bedenkenlos weiterempfehlen. Geiler Shit hier!!

SICK TERROR still fast and angry HC from Brasil, but
LEGION666 is my killer band! Great black metal HC from Canada. I love them
– the best lyrics ever and the song…check this.
