LEGION666/BOMBSTRIKE - TEMPLE OF BLASPHEMY SPLIT 7"
A burly pair up for such a very small piece of wax,
how do they fit it all on that very small 7”? BOMBSTRIKE return with
more skullcrushing Swedish crust, much like SKITSYSTEM. LEGION666 are more
metallic (with a name like that who would have guessed?) and the tracks rip
even harder than their previous split with SICK TERROR. All and all a completely
solid release and should be enjoyed at loud volumes.

Now this is how a split 7” should look –
as in you know what the bands are, and you can tell their names and which
side is which and you don’t have to decide which one you’re going
to have facing you cause both are on the “cover.” I’m already
obsessed with Canadian LEGION666 who are a rad crusty punk metal band. Think
VENOM, BATHORY with Scandi-punk and AMEBIX influences. They do a CRUDE S.S.
cover here along with an original with the kind of epic dark lyrics that I’m
a sucker for. Thick, heavy, and pummeling with an underlying crusty groove.
This fucking rules. BOMBSTRIKE are from Sweden and play a bit more of the
classic style of raging hardcore we’ve come to expect. Guitar driven,
with a pummeling and galloping energy, gruff vocals, and those guitar patterns
that just pull you along. This is a great split.
-Slug & Lettuce
Sweden’s best kept secrets, BOMBSTRIKE, deliver
the goods again with a healthy dose of hasty, raw as well as ultimately thundering
bulldozerthrash with a soloist who seems to eat rusty nails for breakfast.
These two offensives are just mindboggling Northern European punk in the vein
of TOTALITAR meets old DISFEAR and that being said, after their “Kaos
och djavulskap” LP/CD (’02) plus the “Livets laga slocknar”
7” (’03), this powerhouse continues to leave me speechless! LEGION666
are the (!) embodiment when we’re talking about a perfectly executed
mix of fierce metal and wicked crusty hardcore, full stop! Man, if you don’t
believe me, go and check out the “Hell at last” 7”, the
“…and man will be the hunted” split LP w/ SICK TERROR, the
“Kiss the goat” CD, the “Yellow Dog Records compilation
CDR one” CDR or the Toronto City omnibus LP and you’ll be a LEGION666
devotee within seconds, that’s a promise! Anyway, LEGION666 are dishing
up a dark, cruel and completely downtuned, intense crustmetal with a singer
who spits out gallons of venomous poison! Shit, both tracks, “Pessimistic
skies” plus a CRUDE S.S. cover (Blue eyed devils), have the ability
to turn whole capitals into ruins! Get this jewel, it would mean something
to me!

BOMBSTRIKE do Swedish fucking kang! They continue to
amaze me with the same bulldozing brutality offered on the LP and past 7”.
Stop waiting for the new SKITSYSTEM album and get this instead, you will not
be sorry! LEGION666 are, as the name hints, very dark. Darker than BOMBSTRIKE,
but with the same forcing crusty hardcore. I’m probably overusing the
word here in the distro list, but this is still fucking b-r-u-t-a-l!

Legion 666 start out side A with a killer their brutally
heavy Swedish inspired crust. It starts out slow and crescendos into a burning
spirits paced type track. Then there is a film out take about satan which
leads into an incredible Crude SS cover. Asafoetida’s vocals sound particular
evil with the echo effects on his vocals. This is the best Legion 666 material
I have heard to date. The flipside has two originals by Sweden’s Bombstrike.
Both tracks are a continuation of the TRAGEDY like crustie d-beat that was
committed to on “Kaos och Djavulskap”. It makes sense that Legion
666 would do a split with a Swedish band. I prefer the Legion 666 side but
that’s because I am more used to hearing these songs. Both bands are
outstanding at what they do. (Schizophrenic Records / 17 West 4th Street /

Crude Swedish hardcore from BOMBSTRIKE on here with the opener sounding somewhat melodic ala the KONTROVERS album from awhile back. Track number two delivers more of what I expected: doomsday-ridden d-beat with a load of power to shoot at you. Canada’s LEGION 666 offer up much of the same with a heavy Swede-core influence and a CRUDE SS cover of “Blue Eyed Devils”.
